Once they are truly under the trees he slows his pace, and the occasional low overhanging tree branch will give him pause. There's no reason to hurry, and the birdsong and sunlight through leaves are more easily appreciated without sweeping along up the trail at top speed.

The tracks of raccoons and other creatures are harder to spot in the thick underbrush. It is at once both very peaceful and very alive.
