The cane comes up under The Shadow's guard, and while Ichi does put the breaks on most of his forward momentum, he still snaps the cane up, and into The Shadow's gut, trying to avoid a direct hit to his lungs. Turning to the side he slides away, trailing the cane behind him as he turns and moves into a more defensive position, preparing for a second strike.
